Earrings for Haiti
by Donna Pincus, PlumPath Design Studio

In 2010, a devastating 7.0 earthquake thrust the nation of Haiti into the world spotlight. As greater awareness of Haiti grew from this natural disaster, many responded with significant efforts of humanitarianism. Yet, as Haiti moves forward, it should not simply be defined by the earthquake. Rather, it should be celebrated as a country rich in history and culture; a community that can navigate its future beyond devastating circumstances and flourish as a vibrant and colorful nation.

The earrings are $50 a pair; 100% of the profits will go toward The Rasin Foundation to continue our work to provide health care and community development in Leogane.

We are currently sold out, but if you are interested in these earings, please email us using the contact form.
The earrings contain beads and charms that symbolize and celebrate our dedication to the betterment of Haiti. It is a lively design – approximately two inches in length, featuring Swarovski crystals, antiqued silver-plated pewter and sterling silver ear wires – that captures the vitality and strength of the Haitian people.

Red and blue are the official colors of Haiti and appear in the Haitian flag. The flower shape of the blue charm represents the beauty of Haiti.

The palm tree, which appears in the Haitian coat of arms, is a symbol of independence. In the earrings, It is represented by a palmette (an artistic representation of a palm leaf).

The message charms of “hope” and “faith” speak of our vision and everlasting commitment to the well being of Haiti.

The hand with heart symbolizes how we “hold Haiti in our hands with love.” The hand is also a metaphor for building, creating and caring – we use our hands (in some cases, literally) to help build (and rebuild) Haiti.

Thank you for your support; we realize there are numerous worthy causes to contribute to and we truly appreciate your consideration and generosity.
