A basic service like electricity is often a challenge in Haiti.  For several years we did not have electricity or relied on an expensive and environmentally unfriendly generator for power.  Eventually we were connected to the grid but electricity was not always reliable, often only flowing at night so we installed a battery back up system.  Over the past year, two storms have knocked down electrical poles in the area cutting off electricity to the neighborhood for months.  Thanks to the generous support of our donors we are now installing solar panels to create a reliable and environmentally friendly electrical supply for the clinic.
