Dear friends,

The year 2010 is coming to an end and we would like to take the opportunity to thank you for your support and for standing up with the people of Haiti. There are no words to describe the misery of the Haitian people after the January 12 earthquake that killed more than 250,000 people, injured more than 300,000 followed by a hurricane that wrecked havoc on the tent cities and subsequently a cholera epidemic that claimed more than 2000 of lives.  Despite all these calamities, the people of Haiti continue to smile and share faith in a better
tomorrow.  We feel privileged that you have chosen to volunteer your services and donate funds to Rasin Foundation. You have allowed us to build a small medical clinic, provide medical care, medical treatments and medications free of charge to more than 600 patients per month in rural Leogane where they had been no doctors.  You should be aware that 100% of your contribution has gone to delivering much needed medical care to rural villagers in Petite-Riviere, Leogane who have lost their whole livelihood.  As a small all volunteer organization, we have embraced a “people to people” approach and  rely simply on small individuals donations of which 100% directly support the delivery of much needed medical care in rural Leogane.

As we enter 2011, we are very excited about building an eco friendly clinic using earth bag construction method designed by Patti Stouter, a landscape architect from N.Y who has traveled to Leogane.  The funds to build the clinic were possible thanks to the hard work of our dynamic board members especially Jill Hallisey, Tifanny Miller and Rose Abdal-Kallaq who led the Evening of Solidarity fund raiser in October 2010.  We look forward to continue to serve the villagers in rural Leogane unconditionally with compassion and dignity.

Lastly, let me state that what we have achieved is only possible because we carry your spirit of solidarity through our work.  In a society where the poor have no voice, our patients are very grateful that we have brought humanism in medicine through our service to them.  Our clinic keeps getting bigger everyday because the patients appreciate the compassion and respect that we have bestowed upon them and the community which we serve.   We hope to be working with you once again as volunteers and donors as we expand our services.

On behalf of Rasin Foundation and the people of Petite-Riviere in Leogane, we wish you health, peace and love throughout the new year.

Sincerely,

Arielle Adrien, M.D.

Board President
